Apprenticeships are designed as an entry level occupational qualification or as a stepping stone to an Advanced Apprenticeship. You will be linked to an employer at the start of the programme who will either employ you, or have made a commitment to do so. Training will take place on a day or block-release basis leading an occupational framework incorporating an NVQ level 2, relevant Key Skills and a Technical Certificate. Details of these will vary with occupational area. It is possible to progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship when you complete the programme.
Advanced Apprenticeships
Advanced Apprenticeships are designed for learners capable of attaining level 3 qualifications, either directly or by first completing an apprenticeship. You will be employed by a sponsoring company and receive training by day or block release based on the occupational framework. This will include, as a minimum, an NVQ level 3, relevant Key Skills units and a Technical Certificate. It is usual for additional training and qualifications to be available during the apprenticeship, usually through your employer, which supplements the basic framework requirements.
